Last year, approximately 1,000 families with over 2,000 children were generously supported through the Christmas bureau, thanks to the generous monetary donations of individuals, businesses and organizations.

On behalf of the Langley Christmas Bureau we would like to thank you for your support for this holiday season.

We are pleased to announce that, once again, we will be resuming our program of food hampers and toys for those families who register with us for assistance. Applicants who are not sponsored by organizations, businesses and individuals will receive food vouchers and gifts directly from the Langley Christmas Bureau.

  • Sponsors are expected to have hampers delivered on or before Monday, December 15.
  • Monday, December 8th, will be the last day to sign up to sponsor a family.

The Langley Christmas Bureau offers the following suggestions for inclusion in Christmas food hampers. Our hope is that the hampers provide all the trimmings for a hearty Christmas dinner as well as extra food for the holiday season. The Langley Christmas bureau has a diverse cliental and many families may have a festive dinner that may be different from the traditional North American turkey dinner. Please check with your family about the types of foods they eat.

  • Potatoes/yams/sweet potatoes tea/coffee/hot chocolate
  • Rice/pasta/noodles pancake batter/cereals/syrup
  • Lentils/ chickpeas/ quinoa black pepper/cinnamon/cumin/salt
  • Beans/ kidney/black/fava honey/jam/peanut butter
  • Tomatoes canned/sauce/paste lemon/apples/oranges
  • Nuts/walnut/almonds/pine cookies/chocolate/candy
  • Olives/Mediterranean style crackers/pita bread/biscuits
  • Vegetable oil/canola/olive oregano/rosemary/coriander
  • Cooking onion/beets/carrots
  • Real fruit juice
  • Ginger/garlic clove

  • Note: please check expiry dates on canned goods.
    Additional items to include in the hamper: toilet paper, paper towel, dish soap, hand soap, toiletries.
    Do not include any home baking or canning or alcohol.

Hamper food items:

  • Family of 6-7: Gift Certificate $125
  • Family of 4-5: Gift Certificate $100
  • Family of 2-3: Gift Certificate $75

(Gift certificates enable clients to purchase perishable food items for their Christmas Dinner in the days leading up to Christmas). These gift card amounts are included in the totals below.

Guidelines for Costs: (Please note these are suggested costs only.)

  • Family Size of 2: $200 – $250
  • Family Size of 3: $250 – $350
  • Family Size of 4: $350 – $450
  • Family Size of 5: $400 – $550
  • Family Size of 5–7: $500 – $750
  • Family Size 7 or more: $700+
